TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Two people are facing charges Monday night after taking a child and leading police on a chase across two counties.
A little before 2:00 Monday afternoon, a custody dispute occurred on the east side of Terre Haute.
That led 40 year old Mary Stadler taking off with a child and heading towards Brazil.
After a chase that lasted about 30 minutes, police were able to stop the car and rescue the child.
They do not have reason to believe the child was in danger.
Stadler is facing felony fleeing and child endangerment charges.
Her passenger, 19 year old Jonathon Berry is facing charges of resisting arrest.
UPDATE: Around 9 a.m. on Saturday, the Terre Haute Police Department responded to the Statesman Inn room 144 at 1407 N 3rd Street. Officers found Randall Norton Jr, 21, with multiple stab wounds to his back and abdomen.
The Washington Police Department responded Friday around 2 a.m. to a complaint of a male subject being shot. The incident happened on Oak Grove Road in Washington near Ebenezer Baptist Church.
