GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - New details are available in the case of a toddler found alone in a wooded area near the Greene/Sullivan County line.
The incident happened last month when the child was found two miles away from his home.
Officials are charging the mother, Frances Rooney, with neglect of a dependent.
According to court documents, Rooney said her child wandered off. She says she was doing some cleaning when she noticed he was gone.
Records say she began searching on foot, without a cell phone. When she got access to one she called police.
By that time her son had been found.
Police say the child had walked nearly two miles much further than a two-year-old can in 15 minutes.
Rooney is expected to appear in court next month.
