WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - UPDATED: With information on the description of the robber.
A masked man robbed a West Terre Haute gas station at gunpoint Sunday night, authorities said.
The Vigo County Sheriff's Department responded to a call around 8:45 p.m. about an armed robbery at Bob's Country Market on US 150 and Bolton Rd., which is in West Terre Haute near Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
The clerk at the gas station told authorities she had been the only person working, when a man wearing a "ghoul mask with string hair" entered the store and brandished a silver semi-automatic handgun with his right hand. The robber also wore a camouflage shirt, green khaki pants and dark gloves.
Police are searching for a male about 5 feet 7 inches in height and about 170 pounds.
The suspect was able to make off with about $100 in $1 and $10 bills, and fled on foot.
Terre Haute Police Department's K-9 unit was there to assist the VC Sheriff Deputies on scene. The K-9 tracked the suspect from the west side of the store, behind the store and to U.S. 150, where the trail ended. Investigators said that may indicate the suspect got into a vehicle.
As of Monday morning, officials were unsure whether the incident was caught by security cameras.
