TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Police arrested a Shelburn, Ind. man early Sunday morning, after reports he beat a Terre Haute homeowner with a baseball bat.
James Hatley, 23, faces a preliminary felony charge of Battery with a Deadly Weapon Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.
Around 4 a.m. Sunday, police were sent to a fight at the 700 block of Park Street. A homeowner there told police Hatley came to a party uninvited and began damaging the home.
The alleged victim told police he asked Hatley to leave and Hatley knocked him to the ground. The homeowner said he then grabbed a baseball bat and told Hatley to leave. He said Hatley then grabbed the bat and beat the man in the head and right arm.
The alleged victim was taken to regional hospital with a broken arm. Hatley was found later at the intersection of 7th and Park Streets.
These past couple of days have been chillers. Without heating assistance, life could be unbearable.
Lawrenceville, Illinois schools have been dealing with a potential threat. Lawrenceville police told school leaders, a former student made threats against the school.
Around 9:30 Thursday morning, a woman driving a SUV traveling west on US Highway 40 drove off the highway. Her vehicle sheared off a power-line pole and then crashed into a home.
