LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) - The two women whose lives were changed in an instant in August 2010 had very similar thoughts after they heard about David Bisard's second DUI arrest on Saturday.
"It just amazes me that people cannot see that he has a drinking problem," said Mary Mills, who was badly injured in the 2010 crash.
"It vindicates what we've been saying all along, this man is a drunk, he has a problem," said Mary Wells, mother of Eric Wells who was killed in the 2010 crash.
Wells said she feels fortunate that damage in this most recent crash was to property only.
"My first words out of my mouth were, ‘Oh my God,'" Wells said. "Because it's like we have been trying to get this man's license suspended from the get go."
Wells said she would like to see Bisard behind bars until his trial in October for the 2010 crash.
Meanwhile, Mills lives in constant physical pain.
"There's only one person who I would wish the pain on that I've gone through on," Mills said.
Through the severe physical trauma and the endless days in court, Mills says she's heard no apology from Bisard.
Yet, now she's thankful.
"I'm really happy that nobody was hurt," she said. "It's a shame it didn't happen like that the first time around."
