A community is mourning the death of Vincennes University's 18th president. Dr. Phillip Summers served VU for 21 years.
During his tenure, Summers played a vital role in $75 million worth of campus construction, and expansions in Vincennes and Jasper.
He oversaw the development of the Aviation Technology Center at the Indianapolis International Airport, and the extension of university programs including military education.
Most recently, he chaired the Red Skelton Museum Foundation Board.
"If you look at the campus, his mark is everywhere," Vincennes University Provost, Chuck Johnson said.
Summers died Sunday at the age of 74. He leaves behind a wife and three daughters.
Two people are in the Vigo County jail facing charges of burglary with deadly weapons, residential entry, and possession of various drugs and paraphernalia.

UPDATE: Around 9 a.m. on Saturday, the Terre Haute Police Department responded to the Statesman Inn room 144 at 1407 N 3rd Street. Officers found Randall Norton Jr, 21, with multiple stab wounds to his back and abdomen.
