TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - City Hall celebrated Arbor Day Friday morning.
Mayor Duke Bennett said they've lost a few trees over the years.
So they decided to plant a tree to help replace them Friday.
They were also handing out trees to people who have been coming by to pick them up.
Mayor Bennett said it's important to have a significant tree canopy in the community.
"There's all kinds of positive effects from that, both of aesthetics and dealing with stormwater and just all of the things that come with having trees in your community,” said Mayor Bennett.
This is the fifteenth year the city has been voted a Tree City.
