INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The high school football season kicks off on Friday night and six teams will start their season off in Lucas Oil Stadium playing in the PeyBack Classic . Two of those teams are Arsenal Technical School and Arlington -- the first two IPS schools to play in the stadium.
For the Tech team, who's lead by new head coach Jonas Williams, there's no better way to kick off the year then on a big stage.
"Just to be a first-year coach, come in and play in front of probably over, I think, a crowd of 5,000 is great. I'm looking forward to the opportunity," said Williams.
Junior quarterback Timothy Weakley agreed.
"It's a dream come true. (I) wanted to play big all my life and here's my chance," said Weakley.
Tech's opponent in the PeyBack Classic is Arlington, the other IPS school getting to try out the stadium for the first time.
Arlington senior Devon Carter said, "We never played on turf. I don't even remember playing on turf, so it's going to be a different experience."
Senior Steven Caba was skeptical when coaches told the team they'd be playing at the home of the Colts.
"I thought it was fake to be honest. I thought they were just playing with us to try and get us going to play hard, practice hard."
Arlington Coach Rob Patchett is happy his kids are getting such a rare opportunity.
"It's a great deal for our kids because many of our kids, as I said in an earlier interview when it was announced, live in the shadows of Lucas Oil Stadium. So we are pretty excited about it and the kids are really fired up about it."
And despite the excitement of playing where the pros do, both teams are just trying to win the game.
The PeyBack Classic is a triple header that kicks off Friday with Tech vs. Arlington then Columbus East vs. Greenwood and 6 p.m. followed by Lebanon vs. Mooresville.
