INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Colts fans got an early start on the festivities Sunday. Fans dressed in blue and white -- and a few daring to wear green -- were scattered throughout downtown. The big crowds were concentrated near bars, restaurants and popular tailgating spots.
At Kilroy's bar and grill near Georgia and Meridian fans were lined up outside the door waiting to get in.
Kilroy’s manager Chris Burton said when the bar opened up, fans were already waiting.
"We opened at 10:00 and by 10:05 every table was full. We've got a line down the street. A lot of Jets fans were in here last night but we're not seeing too many today. I think the Colts fans know it's a marathon not a sprint, and they'll be out here all day," said Burton.
The Hurst Bean Lot across the street from the stadium was the hot spot for tailgaters.
Local musician Duke Tumatoe talked about how far the Colts have come since coming to Indianapolis.
"It's very exciting. It's come such a long way since Jimmy (Irsay) took over and it's a wonderful, wonderful thing," said Tumatoe.
Tumatoe said he planned to play for about 90 minutes leading up to the game.
Two Texas women tailgating in the Hurst Lot got a bit of bad news when they found out that two tickets they said they purchased on Craig's List turned out to be invalid.
The women found out that the tickets, priced at $250 a piece, had previously been reported lost or stolen rendering them invalid.
The women said they did get their money back but now had to find new tickets only hours before the game.
"We're just going to start walking down the streets and asking people if they have extra tickets. We're not giving up, we're going to get into the game somehow," said one woman.
