These area altocumulus duplicatus clouds with a sun pillar over Crawford County, Illinois near Oblong. The puff of dark steam at the horizon in the middle of the page is the Newton power plant.

This is looking north toward the supercell t'storm in Knox County. The green hue to the storm is dust & debri being kicked up by the storm's winds & the updraft ingesting this dust & debri.

Linda Smith of Ellettsville, Indiana had a special offer in her yard! You could take as much free snow as you wanted. There was plenty during this storm back in January when 8-16.5" fell across the Valley. The highest amount of 16.5" was reported just north of Ellettsville at Gosport.

This is an upper tangent arc over richland co. march 26, 2009 taken by ellen steber. These form when uniform, thick, hexagonal ice crystals in cirrostratus clouds are oriented 45 degrees to the sun rays. The arc normall occurs at the top of a halo around the sun.

This rainbow of color was produced by ice crystals being refracted just right due to their shape & orientation in the cloud. Jackie Roberts caught this breath-taking color over Shelburn, Indiana, in northern Sullivan County.
