Terre Haute, Ind. (WTHI) - Through most of this spring, tornadoes have ravaged the Midwest.
Earlier I told you one of the reasons was the position of the jet stream, and that stands true.
But this exceptionally stubborn weather pattern has set the record for the highest number of tornadoes in Indiana for a single year.
As of June 10, a total of 58 tornadoes have touched down, beating the old record of 49 in 1990. 58 is the total number of tornadoes so far this year, and we're not quite out of tornado season.
It's possible the record set for this year could be even higher, now this doesn't mean next year will be worse, it will depend on how the atmosphere decides to behave.
Of course, when tornadoes do strike, Storm Team 10 will be here to help keep you safe.
