Farmer's Market Returns

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Saturday kicks off the downtown Farmer's Market season in Terre Haute.

Once run by Downtown Terre Haute Inc., the Farmer's Market is a little different this year.

"For the first time this year it's being run by the growers themselves," said Angi Hansel, the Farmer’s Market Master.

Visitors can expect to find lots of area vendors with plenty of yummy things to sell.

“All of our vendors are from within a 100 miles so it's a great way to support your local vendors. There will be everything from meats to breads, pastries, honey. Of course all your produce, plus hopefully some strawberries and fruits," said Hansel.

Not only is the produce locally grown, it's fresh!

"A lot of farmers, they'll get up early and pick it fresh. I mean, they'll get up at the crack of dawn," said Hansel.

So the food you'll find at the farmers market is not only straight from the field, it supports local growers as well.

The farmers market is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon starting this weekend through October.
