TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) -

If this May has seemed colder than average, you're not alone. Lot's of folks believe the first part of May has been cold.

Amazingly, we found a group of you people enjoying a cup of coffee outside the Coffee Grounds here in Terre Haute. But were they really enjoying their time outside?

"It's just too cold. I should not have to wear a coat right now," Tiffany Reusin said.

David Long added, "It's awful. It's really awful for May. I know Indiana summers are never bad, but come on."

"I wish I would have worn a jacket”, says Kayla Wilkinson, “It's May and I assumed it would be around 80."

Kevin Mertz pulled no punches, "Frigid. I think Al Gore was wrong and global warming is all a scam."

Here's a look at the numbers. An average May, from the 1st through the 17th should average 72 degrees. This year's average is 68.12.

Our current average low for May, so far, is 53.56 which is a pretty normal low, compared to a normal low of 53.

This May would register much cooler if we hadn't had well above average temps from May 9-13. On those days, the temperature high averaged 82 degrees, 10 degrees higher than normal and the average low was 64.75, a full 11 degrees above normal.

But now it's back to a colder than average May. The good news is that warmer days are coming, but not soon enough for our coffee friends.

Kayla Wilkinson chirped, "Some people call me silly, and I'm a little chilly"
