Comparing the wind and weather

WABASH VALLEY (WTHI) - The weather has definitely turned around from the drought the afflicted the Wabash Valley over the summer, but what causes the weather to change so drastically, so fast?

The direction of the wind can give you a clue concerning the temperature.

First, an anemometer, an instrument used to display wind speed, shows the wind has been constant, which, in turn, begins to demonstrate the weather changes.

A wind vane points directly into the wind. Thursday, it was pointing south, with it, warm weather ensued.

Friday, however, the wind is coming from the north, and you can feel what the weather is like outside currently: cold and rainy.

The direction of the wind almost always has an impact on the temperature.

A good thing to note for the weekend, this wind vane will stay pointed to the north, meaning it’s going to be a great time to try out that coat you may not have been able to last winter.
