SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTHI) - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is announcing that beginning on or after Monday, July 9, work will begin on the bridge replacement project on State Road 54 (S.R. 54) east of Sullivan.
Contractor’s crews will be replacing the bridge decks on two structures, 1.48 and 1.92 miles east of U.S. 41 over Coulson Drain and Busseron Creek. In order to maintain a safe work zone, one lane will be closed at a time. Stop lights will be installed on each end of the work zone to control traffic through the area. There will also be a 15-foot width restriction in place.
The $1.9 million contract was awarded to C.L.R, Inc. of Vincennes, Indiana, in February of this year. It is estimated the project will be complete in November of 2013, weather permitting.
INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a work zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, please visit www.in.gov/indot or www.trafficwise.in.gov .
