TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The Prospect League announced their postseason awards on Sunday and the Terre Haute Rex were well represented.
Relief Pitcher Nick Blount won the Galen Wood Fireman of the Year award, and tied Matt Tellor of the Springfield Sliders for the Roland Hemond Prospect of the Year award. Blount recorded 12 saves and a 1.42 ERA in 31.2 innings pitched during the season.
Shortstop Nick Johnson and Centerfielder Kyle Kempf were both named to the postseason All-Star team. Johnson hit .321 while Kempf finished the year with a monstrous .365 batting average.
Rex Manager Brian Dorsett also won Co-Manager of the Year.
Springfield Sliders outfielder Mike Fitzgerald, Jr. also made the All-Star team. He will be playing for Indiana State next season.
