TERRE HAUTE, Ind.(WTHI) - Sports 10 has learned that the Chicago White Sox have taken former Terre Haute North and Indiana mister baseball Josh Phegley off the disabled list. Phegley had been on the DL for more than two months with ITP, which is a blood disorder that has caused Josh's body to have low platelet counts.
This was very serious but not life threatening. Over the last couple of weeks Phegley's body has finally been able to start producing the correct amount of platelets he needs to live a healthy life.
Phegley last played on April 15th for the Winston-Salem Dash. In six games with them this year, he was hitting 259. The Dash are a high A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
Since the Dash are on all-star break this week Phegley has joined the Bristol Sox of the advanced rookie league. Phegley is expected to spend the week with Bristol, playing in his first game on Tuesday. He hopes to move back up with Winston-Salem next week.
In 2009 Phegley was a first-round draft pick of the Chicago White Sox, the 38th overall pick.
