TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - On Thursday, the ISU Women's basketball team won the program’s first game at the MVC Tournament in four years. The reward for doing that was a match-up on Friday against top seeded Illinois State.

It was a tough day though for the Lady Sycamores as Illinois State pounds ISU 76 to 39. The 37 point win by the Lady Redbirds is the largest victory in the MVC Women's Tournament history. ISU finishes their season with a record of 17 and 14.

Update on coaching situation:
Of course with the ISU women's basketball season coming to an end today, the big question now is who will replace Jim Wiedie and be the next head coach of the Lady Sycamores.

ISU Athletic Director Ron Prettyman and I exchanged emails today about the coaching search and here is what Prettyman had to say.

“We have some interested candidates that will be participating in the NCAA and other tournaments. We also are continuing to receive quality applicant inquiries nearly every day. I am reviewing these carefully."

Prettyman also went on to say, "This is an important decision that needs careful consideration. As the tournaments progress the search will heat up. We have not compiled a short list at this point.”

Sports 10 will keep you updated in the weeks to come on the search for a new Women's basketball coach at ISU.
