Terre Haute, Ind.(WTHI) - TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State is ranked No. 15 in this week's The Sports Network Top 25 Poll and moved up to No. 18 in the FCS Coaches Poll following its 23-7 road victory over Western Illinois on October 20.
The Sycamores are one of four Missouri Valley Football Conference schools selected by The Sports Network panel of voters. North Dakota State is No.3 while Indiana State is No. 15, Illinois State checks in at No. 17 and Youngstown State is No. 22. South Dakota State, Southern Illinois and Northern Iowa are all receiving votes.
The No. 15 ranking is the second highest for the Sycamores since joining the Missouri Valley Football Conference. ISU was No. 14 in the 1989 Preseason Poll as well as the Nov. 6, 1995 selections. It is also the highest national ranking for the program in the Trent Miles era.Indiana State has been ranked as high as No. 1 nationally in 1984, which was prior to the Sycamores joining the MVFC.
The Sycamores return to action on Saturday, October 27 when they host MVFC newcomer South Dakota inside Memorial Stadium at 2:05 p.m. (ET).
