West Vigo takes down North on the mat

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - West Vigo traveled to Terre Haute North Wednesday night and beat the Patriots on the wrestling mat. The Vikings won 36-31.

Terre Haute North was forced to forfeit six times, four of which resulted in victories for the Vikings. (two double forfeits).

Tyler Gilmore started the night off right for the Patriots, pinning Kevin Stewart at 152. Trey Grim followed it up with another Patriot pin at 160, then Ryan Moshak won by decision as Terre Haute North jumped out to the lead.

Sam McClain, Dakota Short, and Tyler Bell won by forfeit at 182, 195, and 220 to get the Vikings on the board.

Terre Haute North's Andrew Londo took the heavyweight match, pinning Jacob Riley.

The 106 and 113 weight classes were both double forfeits, and Gage Lynch won 120 by forfeit for the Vikings.

The Patriots scored again at 126 with Eric Elia picking up the pin, then again at 132 with Austin Bishop win by decision.

The Vikings finished the night strong with Kyman Elkins picking up a pin at 138, then Zac Otte clinched the match with his pin at 145.

West Vigo will be in another county match on Tuesday when they host Terre Haute South.
