WABASH VALLEY (WTHI) - Christmas has arrived early for the football teams at Linton-Stockton and North Central (Farmersburg).

Their showdown on Week Nine of the Indiana high school football season has been moved to Lucas Oil Stadium – home of the Indianapolis Colts and the 2012 Super Bowl -- as part of Championship Saturday on October 13. The battle between unbeaten and No. 3 1A Linton-Stockton and once-beaten North Central could decide the Southwest Seven Conference 2012 championship. Both teams are undefeated in conference play and have one conference game before October 13.

Kickoff is 1:30. Advance tickets will be available at both schools later this week.

“We are thrilled to have Linton-Stockton and North Central as part of our championship day at Lucas Oil Stadium,” said Ray Compton of Compton Strategies, promoters of the three-game event. “This game is a direct reflection of what we want to provide the schools and communities involved. This is an early state championship game for them.”

Other games on tap for the day are 4A No. 2 ranked Leo vs. Bluffton and two ranked 1A teams, No. 11 Sheridan and No. 12 Tri-County. The Sheridan vs. Tri-County match will decide the Hoosier Heartland Conference title, while the Leo vs. Bluffton contest will play a role in the winner of the Allen County East Athletic Conference.

“There is a big buzz here,” said Charlie Karazsia, coach and athletic director of Linton-Stockton. “Our players and coaches are thrilled to be part of Championship Saturday.”

The feeling is mutual at North Central.

“Playing at Lucas Oil Stadium is the chance of a lifetime for our players, coaches and fans,” said coach Travis Nolting. “It’s the biggest venue in Indiana football. We are honored to have been invited to represent our community and the Southwest Seven conference.”
