TERRE HAUTE, Ind.(WTHI) - Terre haute north cross country runner David Myles is not the fastest runner, he'll probably never win a race, but that doesn't mean he hasn't had a huge impact on the patriot program.
David is a hero to his coach and teammates, last year as junior he missed the entire cross country season after being diagnosed with Crohn's disease. The arthritis from Crohn's caused Myles so much pain, there was times he could barely walk.
Through tremendous determination Myles did make a comeback, he made varsity and has been able to compete in this his senior year.
As if Myles hadn't been through enough already, six weeks ago he faced another huge challenge, his mom suffered a brain aneursym.
While his mom has been recovering during the last six weeks David has been running some of the best races of his life. Saturday he will not be one of the 7 Patriots competing at state, but that doesn't mean he will not be up on the podium if North makes it and that's something everyone associated with North would love to see.
