South Putnam softball faced off with Adams Central for the state title on Saturday.
There wasn’t a score early on in this one. Brooke Betcher was solid at bat, and slammed one up the middle to rbi Junny Thompson, to put the Eagles on the board.
Of course, Betcher was solid on the mound as well. She dominated the play, as she rung up strike out after strike out.
The game was tied at 1 in the third inning, when Kelsey Whitaker strolled to the plate and ripped on into left field. Jenny Thompson crossed home plate for the second time in the game.
Mackenzie Trisler added some insurance in the sixth, she puts the ball in play and was retired at first, but left the window open for Jenna Jones to add another point to the board.
The Eagles beat Adams Central 3-1.
