TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Several runners from the area got to participate in the high school state cross-country meet.
Andrew Kump represented West Vigo, Terre Haute South qualified as a team, but the team with a chance to really make some noise was Terre Haute North.
On the boys side, the Patriots came out strong they came in with a very solid fifth place finish paced, as usual, by Jon Mascari.
Mascari gave it everything on his way to a 16th place finish individually.
Tyeseon Mundy a very strong 25th place finish for the Patriots.
South finished 21st as a team with Taylor Head leading the way for the Braves. Head finished in 30th place.
Andrew Kump, representing West Vigo, finished 65th.
The girls from North told Sports 10 earlier this week that they were aiming for a top 5 finish. That didn't quite happen on Saturday but they did finish 11th as a team.
The girls from South finished 24th but four freshmen led the way for the Braves including Nicki Thiede who finished 34th.
As expected, Chanli Mundy turned in a top 20 finish. She crossed the finish line in 16th and she thinks that this North team could be even better next year to make a run at the top 5.
“The freshmen that we have this year, they will be more confident and relaxed when it comes to bigger races,” said Mundy. “Especially [in] the state meet. And hopefully we can just [do that]. Also we have people coming up too so. We should be good.
Congratulations to all the runners who put in a great effort at state.
