TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Friday night, in an exclusive interview with Sports 10, Terre Haute North boys basketball player Justin Gant verbally committed to the Indiana State men's basketball team. Gant is a 6-foot-8 1/2 inch, 215 pound forward who finished third in the MIC this past season in scoring at 17 points a game, he also averaged eight rebounds.
The North senior to be was named a Indiana Junior All-Star. Gant was heavily recruited by schools from the Big Ten, ACC, Atlantic Ten, MAC and Missouri Valley. ESPN ranks him as a 90 , which is a high major player.
The North big man is the first boys basketball player from the school to receive a scholarship to ISU since Jim Cruse in 1993. Gant is also the first recruit for new ISU men's basketball head coach Greg Lansing.
