BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) - Super Bowl hype hit the Harbaugh family on Thursday — a conference call with the national media. It was followed by a series of sessions with local reporters, courtesy of the Indiana University Sports Information Office.
WTHI's sister station, WISH-TV, met Joani Crean in the university's Cook Hall, along with her parents, Jack and Jackie Harbaugh.
They talked about being set-up during the conference call, when "John from Baltimore" called. They said John wanted to know whether they would cheer for Jim Harbaugh, the coach of the San Francisco 49ers, because he was their favorite.
Joani Crean was the first to realize "John from Baltimore" was her brother, John Harbaugh, coach of the Baltimore Ravens.
All three — Joani, Jackie and Jack — said they won't take sides.
"You watch the game completely emotionless," Joani said, because "you love 'em both the same."
Jack Harbaugh, once a coach himself, said, "You're very conscious about not showing emotion" to avoid being misjudged or misconstrued as taking sides.
