INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - While the Indianapolis Colts are getting ready for the Sunday AFC Championship Showdown at Lucas Oil Stadium, the team is getting ready to get fans pumped up with a big rally on Thursday.
There are big plans for a huge blowout. The doors of Lucas Oil will open at 5 p.m. and Colts fans can come in either the North or South gates.
Chuck O’Hara works for the Colts. He said, "Fans can come down and get autographs from alumni players and cheerleaders and Blue the mascots will be around to perform."
At 6 p.m., there will be a few short speeches. It all ends at 7:30 p.m.
The first public step of a championship weekend that is different from any of the other Colts home games.
"Before the AFC Championship game, the NFL has a very large part in what happens pregame with the national anthem, they pick that act," said O’Hara.
An act that's not yet determined, because the Grammy's are the same day as the game and not many singers are available.
Taylor's Bakery is rallying around the Indianapolis Colts Championship run.
Colts confections are selling fast.
Drew Allen of Taylor's said, "It's kind of nice with the Colts winning because this is actually a slow time in January, everybody actually makes a resolution to stay out of here for the new year, so this actually brings people in, so it's nice."
But even in the bakery business, the NFL has something to say at Championship time. Customers will find plenty of football looking baked goods in the store, but they won't find any that say Colts or NFL on them.
“We've got to be really careful because of copyrights,” said Drew. "So we go with the blue and the white, but they want us to stay away from using the actual name.”
The pep rally is Thursday at Lucas Oil Stadium. Again the doors open at 5 p.m. and festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. Music will be provided by a local band Zanadoo. Colts fans are invited to stick around until 7:30 p.m. Even the parking is free.
On Friday, the Colts are hosting another rally. This one is at Circle Centre Mall in downtown Indianapolis from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
