Colts pick up players in free agency

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH/AP) - The free agency period is under way and the Colts are very active in the market.

The Colts have agreement in principle that has been reached with the following players:

Gosder Cherilus  OT     Detroit

Greg Toler            DB     Arizona

Erik Walden        LB     Green Bay

Donald Thomas   OG   New England

Lawrence Sidbury  LB     Atlanta

The addition of Cherilus, a 6-foot-7, 325-pound right tackle fills a major need on the offensive line for the Colts.

Indy went into free agency roughly $40 million under the salary cap looking first to firm up an offensive line that allowed Andrew Luck to be sacked 41 times and get hit dozens more.

Cherilus was Detroit's first-round draft pick in 2008 and played every snap except one last season at right tackle for the Lions.
