INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - - Former Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell spoke out Wednesday for the first time since being released by the club.

Caldwell told sister station WISH-TV's sports director Anthony Calhoun that he is disappointed, but he's going to move on.

He said he hopes to coach again somewhere next year saying he believes his record speaks for itself. Caldwell made two playoff appearances in three years, including a trip to the Super Bowl in his first year at the helm.

Caldwell also released a public statement thanking the Colts and the fans:

“My wife Cheryl and I greatly appreciate the tremendous opportunity to have been a part of the Colts organization for the past 10 years, serving as an assistant for 7 years and 3 years as the head coach. We offer our sincere gratitude to Jim Irsay, the Irsay family and the entire Indianapolis organization for an abundance of confidence and encouragement during our time with the team. I am blessed to have had many very successful years as a member of the Colts’ coaching staff, and I would be remiss if I did not recognize the great effort put forth by our players and coaching staff who poured their hearts out in an effort to maintain the standard of excellence this organization has grown to expect. I wish the Colts, my coaching staff, our players and the loyal Colts fans, who were very supportive, much continued success in the future.”
