TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Six incoming freshmen for the Indiana State women’s soccer team have led their club to the 2012 Region II Championship in Saginaw, Mich.

Incoming freshmen Mackenzie Hamilton (Lebanon, Ohio / Fenwick High School), Sydney Loesing (Cincinnati, Ohio / Anderson High School), Sydney Lovelace (Franklin, Ohio / Franklin High School), Selby Smith (Lebanon, Ohio / Fenwick High School), Holly Sparks (Fairfield, Ohio / Fairfield High School) and Kylie Sumner (Batavia, Ohio / Clermont Northeastern High School) are all members of the U18 Cincinnati Soccer Alliance Elite (CSA) club team that went 4-0-1 in the tournament over the final week of June.

CSA went 2-0-1 in Pool A play against teams from Illinois, Michigan and South Dakota to advance to the finals of the tournament against the top teams from the three other pools. CSA won 5-1 over International (Ohio) to move to the championship game where the team defeated Kolping Kicks SC Schmitt (Missouri), 3-0, for the regional title.

Lovelace tied for the second-most goals in the tournament, netting four goals in the five games. Hamilton also added a pair of goals, including one in the championship game.

CSA faced tough competition in the tournament, topping the 2011 National Champions, NSA Premier Fury (Illinois), in pool play. The team that CSA topped in the title game, Kolping Kicks SC Schmitt, also reached the championship game in 2011.

The six future Sycamores will head to Rock Hill, S.C., from July 25-27, to compete in the national championships.

The 2012 Indiana State women’s soccer season begins with a pair of exhibition matchups, when the Sycamores travel to Northern Kentucky on Tuesday, August 7, and to Bowling Green on Saturday, August 11.

ISU plays four of their first five games of the regular season at Memorial Stadium in Terre Haute, beginning with their season opener against SIU Edwardsville on Saturday, August 18.
