ISU annouces men's basketball schedule

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The Indiana State men's basketball team, led by first-year head coach Greg Lansing, announced an expanded version of their 2010-11 regular season schedule Friday which includes all Missouri Valley contests and most of the non-conference schedule.

The slate currently features 14 homes games, including a visit from the DePaul Blue Demons as well a date with the Purdue Boilermakers on December 18 at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Coach Lansing expects to add one more home exhibition contest as well as one additional non-conference game in the coming weeks to round out the slate.

The Sycamores begin their season with an exhibition game on Saturday, November 6 against Wabash College inside Hulman Center. Tipoff is slated for 1:05 p.m. (ET).

The regular season begins with a three-game stint in the Jerry Tarkanian Classic, hosted by Loyola (Ill.) in the Windy City on Nov. 12 through 14.

The Sycamores will face off against Texas-Pan American in the season opener and will also face Eastern Kentucky and Loyola (Ill.) during the event.

Indiana State then travels to Ball State on Nov. 17 before embarking on another road trip to Oral Roberts on Nov. 20. The Sycamores open the home portion of the regular season on Nov. 27 when they host Buffalo at Hulman Center.

ISU travels to Wyoming on Dec. 4 as part of the Mountain West/Missouri Valley Conference Challenge (televised on The Mtn Network) before hosting DePaul on Dec. 8 and Oakland City on Dec. 12. ISU then travels to Conseco Fieldhouse on Dec. 18 to take on the Purdue Boilermakers.

The Sycamores open Missouri Valley Conference play on Dec. 29 against Bradley at Hulman Center as ISU plays three of its first four league games at home. The Sycamores will travel to Evansville on New Year’s Day for its first road game of conference play and the game will be televised live on MVCTV. ISU then hosts Illinois State (Jan. 4) and UNI (Jan. 7) for back-to-back games before traveling to Drake (Jan. 9) and Bradley (Jan. 12).

Indiana State hosts Creighton on Jan. 16 for its second MVCTV telecast of the season and will host Missouri State on Jan. 19. After a road game at Wichita State on Jan. 22, Evansville will make its appearance at Hulman Center on Jan. 26.

ISU then travels to Creighton on Jan. 29 before hosting Wichita State on Feb. 1. The Sycamores will travel to Missouri State (Feb. 5) and Illinois State (Feb. 9) before hosting Drake on Feb. 12. The Sycamores will then go to Southern Illinois on Feb. 16 before hosting a Bracketbuster contest against a non-conference foe on Feb. 19.

The schedule rounds out with a road game at UNI on Feb. 22 and then hosting Southern Illinois on Feb. 26. The final home game against the Salukis is Senior Day and is also part of the MVC Wildcard Weekend, and could be selected for television late in the season.

The State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament takes place from March 3-6 in St. Louis, Mo., with the automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament on the line.

Indiana State returns 11 student-athletes from last year's squad, led by senior guard Jake Kelly. Kelly is joined by two fellow seniors (Aaron Carter and Isiah Martin) and four juniors (Myles Walker, Carl Richard, Jordan Printy and Dwayne Lathan). Koang Doluony is the team’s lone returning sophomore. Redshirt freshman Jake Odum RJ Mahurin, Logan Eitel and Lucas Eitel will be joined by true freshmen Steve McWhorter and Jake Kitchell.
