TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Having the privilege to cover the Indiana vs. Indiana Wesleyan exhibition contest Thursday night, I gathered one thing. All the preseason hype surrounding this year’s IU team is very much for real.

IU boasts depth upon depth. Granted last night was an exhibition game against a team much less talented, but this team did so many impressive things it was hard to leave unimpressed.

Preseason All-American candidate Cody Zeller only scored 11 points, but he made all four shots he took including a thunderous baseline dunk from a tremendous move off the dribble.

The moment of the night came when Maurice Creek checked into the game. Back from injury Creek looked poised to further add to this team’s unlimited depth. He led the Hoosiers with 12 points off the bench. Will Sheehey also looked to fill the role of 6th man perfectly. Sheehey can step outside and knock down the three, crash the boards, and get to the rim. He’s bulked up and provides a tremendous spark.

The addition of Yogi Ferrell allows Jordan Hulls to move to the two guard slot when Ferrell is in the game. Hulls sharpshooting ability should stretch defenses even more from the wing. Ferrell lived up to the hype, looking poised well beyond his years. He could be the driver to steer this offensive juggernaut to the final four.
