Robinson boys basketball team head to state finals

ROBINSON, Ill. (WTHI) - The Robinson boys basketball team is heading to the Class 2A state finals in Illinois. The Maroons beat Decatur St. Teresa Tuesday night 81-60 at the Springfield Super-Sectional.

This is the deepest any Maroons team has made it since 1916.

Meyers Leonard, the seven-foot tall senior, had 21 points, Derek Hanahs had 19 points and Ben Jones had a game high 29 points for the Maroons.

The Maroons outscored Decatur Saint Teresa by 23 points in the second half.

Robinson will play in the Class 2A State Finals against Chicago (Hales Franciscan) at 9:15 ET, 8:15 CT in Peoria, Illinois.
