Congratulations to all five of the 2008 Golden Apple award winners! The honorees have been awarded a Golden Apple based on their teaching excellence in grades K-12 and they all currently teach in the News 10 WTHI Indiana/Illinois viewing area. Our five Golden Apple Award winners are honored at a public ceremony held on Friday, April 25th in the Oakley Auditorium in the Center for Information Technology on the Terre Haute campus of Ivy Tech Community College. Please help us honor this year's five award winners as the ceremony is open to the public and you are encouraged to attend. The awards ceremony starts at 7 pm.

The Golden Apple Award was created in 1989 to recognize and reward five outstanding educators in the Wabash Valley. The process always begins with nominations from people like you of that special educator currently teaching in grades K through 12 within the WTHI-TV viewing area. The nominations are then put in front of a panel of judges that consist of past winners, other educators and sponsors. Finalist are then brought in for interviews before the five winners are selected. Needless to say, the Golden Apple Award is one of the most revered educational awards in the area and is reserved for only the best.

Winners receive a cash award, prizes, a Golden Apple Award cast by the company which supplies the "Oscar" awards and much deserved campaign of recognition on WTHI-TV.
