TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - WTHI-TV and WTHITV.com is kicking-off a community awareness campaign to keep you and your family safe.
We're launching stopb4utxt (stop before you text).
It’s a campaign to encourage Wabash Valley drivers not to text while driving.
We're asking everyone to wear a special band on their thumb to serve as a visual reminder not to text when you're behind the wheel.
With the increase of car accidents due to the texting distraction, this campaign will help bring awareness to this problem.
"If we can save one accident from happening, or one injury, or save a life, then everything we have done will be success in this campaign," says WTHI-TV Vice President and General Manager Todd Weber.
The specially-produced thumb bands, with stopb4utxt message, will be available at area locations.
The locations will be released soon.
