TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Texting and driving is set to become illegal in the Hoosier State.

Legislators recently passed House Bill 1129. It would make it illegal for you to send, and read text messages while you're at the wheel. That would also apply to email.

Some are wondering, how will police be able to enforce it.

Vigo County Sheriff, Greg Ewing said it's too early to say how it'll be enforced, because it could be amended before signed into law.

However, he says once it is, the state will tell them how to do it. Even though some parts are unclear, Ewing says the move is needed.

"I've been out directing traffic and almost been run over by people talking on their cell phones. Well imagine if they were down texting I'd of probably been hit," Ewing said.
