Students Get Simulated Distracted Drive

VINCENNES, IND. (WTHI) - Students in southern Indiana get a hands on feel for the dangers of distracted driving.

About 100 high school and college students got a chance to experience the perils of distracted driving without the pain.

The students got a chance to work with driving simulators that are part of a national distracted driving program.

The situations were real, so were the controls and the message.

"You just try to follow the rules of the road while texting and driving as safely as possible, mostly the outcome is it's not very safe, so that comes home to them," said Sean Medina with the Save a Life Tour.

Indiana is one of more than 30 states where it is illegal to text and drive.

The project was sponsored by the Vincennes University Student Activities Program.
