stopb4utxt (Stop before you text) is a community awareness campaign to encourage drivers not to text while behind the wheel. WTHI-TV is handing out red thumb bands with the stopb4utxt message. The bands are designed to remind people not to text while driving.
Texting while driving is the most dangerous form of distracted driving. In fact, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says, drivers who text are six times more likely to cause an accident than intoxicated drivers. This scary statistic is perhaps because when texting, the driver’s steering capability goes down 91%.
The stopb4utxt thumb bands are being distributed and worn as a reminder of the stopb4utxt message. Pick up your band at our stopb4utxt partner locations.
