VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Local GOP Chairman resigns, caucus scheduled for Saturday
According to a press release sent to News 10, Bill Treadway has announced his departure as Chairman of the Vigo County Republican Party after more than seven years at the helm of the local GOP.
Treadway cites his desire to focus on his campaign for Vigo County Council at-large and to spend more time with his family as reasons for his departure.
Treadway's tenure most notably saw the election of a Republican County Prosecutor and the election and re-election of the Mayor of Terre Haute.
Treadway said," I have enjoyed my time as Chairman and I am proud of what the Party has accomplished over the last 7 years."
Vada Long, local GOP Vice Chairman, has assumed the position of acting Chairman and will remain in that position until a party caucus is held on Saturday that will name Treadway's replacement.
The Vigo County Republican Party will meet in a closed caucus to select the next Vigo County Chairman at 10 a.m. in the Vigo County Public Library on Saturday, September 8, 2012.
