Local stores run out of hot toy

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - It's turning out to be the hottest toy this season. But it may also be hard to catch, in more ways than one.

They're called Zhu Zhus. They're hamsters that are powered electronically.

Nationwide, they're listed as one of the top toys. But they're also one of the toughest to find. That's because the supplier of the furry gifts is smaller company, meaning they can't ship out products on the same scale as larger corporations.

If you haven't gotten them yet, don't give up. Stores we spoke with say they expect shipments. They're just not sure when. "They are a very hot item. We get asked everyday, many times a day, 'Are they here, do you have them, have you seen them?' We haven't heard anything. It's they're just probably not going to come back in before the holiday's over this year, I would anticipate," said Doug Ripberger of K-mart in Terre Haute.
