TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - When you look at the sun, do you sneeze?

Storm Team 10 meteorologist Kevin Orpurt took to the streets looking for “sun sneezers”.

“Yes, I do. Whenever I was little, my mom always told me if you look at the sun, it will help you sneeze. Whenever I do, it just seems to help,” said Cody Yantis.

Kevin: “What if I told you, you have photoptarmosis? How does photic sneeze sound? Or how about Sun Sneeze?”

Cody: “That sounds delightful.”

Aristotle was the first to write about this odd human condition and scientists still don’t know exactly what causes it.

Only about 30 percent of the population has it and it’s probably genetic.

If one of your parents sneezed at the sun, there’s a chance you will, too. And if you sneeze, chances are one of your children might.

As for multiple sneezes, once you sneeze the first time, fluid from your sinuses is what causes you to sneeze multiple times.

If you have photoptarmosis, just remember, it’s not dangerous, but it’s nothing to sneeze at.
