TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A local school shoots hoops for Haiti.
Michaela Schuld is a student at Woodrow Wilson Middle School and a member of the girls basketball team.
Her father, Mark Schuld, has been to Haiti several times with Mountain Top Ministries. Last November, Michaela was able to join him on a trip.
Mark said following the earthquake, Michaela felt inspired to help out in some way.
That's when she came up with Hoops 4 Haiti.
"For me it's incredible," said Mark Schuld. "I mean, I've kinda taken to the Haitian people in the work I do down there. To see her grow in that kind of a giving atmosphere I think is just wonderful."
The team raised money in three ways during their game against Chauncey Rose Thursday evening.
They were selling t-shirts and collecting donations at the game.
Also, each player on the Woodrow Wilson team worked to get a sponsor who would donate a certain amount of money for each point scored during the game.
