DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas (KXAN) - A suspect attempted to rob a popular convenience store in Dripping Springs, but a patron disarmed the suspect.

The suspect entered the DS Grocery on U.S. Highway 290 in Dripping Springs around 6 p.m. Tuesday with a shotgun and demanded money.

After the clerk gave him the cash from the register, a customer grabbed the shotgun from the suspect. The gun discharged in the tussle, but nobody was injured.

The suspect dropped the weapon and the money and ran. He reportedly left the scene in a dark-colored Honda with either paper plates or obscured plates.

Hays County sheriff's deputies are looking for the suspect, described as a Hispanic male approximately 24 years old. He is described to be about about 5 feet 9 inches tall and wore blue jeans, a grey UT hooded sweatshirt and a white mask (possibly a pillow case) over his face.

If you have any information, please contact the Hays County Sheriffs Office at (512) 393-7808.
