TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A Christmas tradition kicked off in Terre Haute. The Salvation Army has officially started their Red Kettle Campaign.
Each year volunteers stand next to the kettles outside of stores and ring a bell. They're hoping you drop in some change or maybe even a dollar or two.
The Terre Haute Salvation Army is reporting a 10 percent increase in those needing assistance this year.
"So many people have come to us for the first time saying that they need help," said Envoy Gordon Hoag. "Times are tough right now for a lot of people."
The Salvation Army is still looking for volunteers to ring bells this season. If you are interested you can call the Salvation Army at 812-232-4081.
