EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WTHI) - The Rosebud Theatre closed its doors Dec. 5.
Now, city officials are working with local banks to reopen the theatre.
If approved by the city council, the city of Effingham will fund part of the needed expenses for two years. Remaining funds would come from a proposed food and beverage tax hike. At the end of the two years, the theatre will either be handed back to its owners or turned over to the banks.
If approved, plans include opening the theatre from May to September only, not year-round as before.
