FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) - Former Republican candidate for governor Jim Wallace was arrested in Fishers for domestic battery, Fishers Police Department officials said Monday.
Wallace is a Hamilton County businessman who ran for governor earlier this year but failed to meet requirements to get on the statewide ballot. He suspended his campaign in March.
Officers were called to the 700 block of Tamenend Trace around 6:00 p.m. Sunday when a woman said she’d been assaulted by her husband.
Wallace’s wife told police the couple was arguing when he grabbed her neck and threw her against a wall. She ran upstairs and locked herself in a bedroom along with her 5-year-old daughter to call 911.
Police arrested Wallace on a preliminary charge of domestic battery, a Class D felony. The 51-year-old was being held at the Hamilton County Jail.
Nobody required medical attention.
