WESTFIELD, Ill. (WTHI) - A woman charged with murdering her newborn baby takes a plea deal.

Last July, Cayla Wheeler of Westfield, Ill. was charged with arson. During the investigation of a suspicious fire at her home, police learned Wheeler and her husband Eric were expecting a baby.

The baby was no where to be found and Wheeler was no longer pregnant. Police arrested Wheeler after finding the baby's body in a wooded area near the home.

Wheeler settled on a plea deal on Monday. She plead guilty to first degree murder and arson.

In the deal, she can be sentenced for no more than 35 years. Her sentencing is set for August 7 at 10 a.m. central time.
