Police team up with alert system

WASHINGTON, Ind. (WTHI) - A southern Indiana community has received some help with finding missing people from a national organization.

Police is Washington, Ind. have entered into an agreement with an organization out of Florida, called A Child is Missing alert. The program comes at no cost to the city.

It will provide police with a quicker response and a more direct appeal for help. While the program will help locate missing kids, it is also designed to help find other people who may need help.

"It's basically a high tech method to help find children, the elderly, mentally or physically handicapped people who maybe wander off," Washington Police Chief Steve Riney said.
