VINCENNES, Ind. (WTHI) - State Highway officials lay out the plans to get I-69 built through southern Indiana.

I-69 has produced more paperwork than pavement in Daviess County.

State officials said that should change next year when they let the first contract for construction of the road in the county.

INDOT officials said the planning is now over and it is time to start building the highway.

"We're ready for this road. We need this road. We want to go fast so that we have those construction jobs as soon as possible, but the most important is to get the road completed," INDOT Deputy Commissioner Sam Sarvis said.

The first contract for Daviess County's portion of I-69 is expected to be let next spring and will run through the area near county roads 350-North and 350-East.
