VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Rainy weather pushed back a number of outdoor celebrations for the Fourth of July.
It was a waiting game for much of the day for the Terre Haute fireworks show.
"This is the most aggravating part of the whole thing because we can't do anything and we're all on pins and needles to shoot this evening," said Jim Stanfill, head fireworks shooter.
Saturday afternoon, pyrotechnicians decided to postpone the big show until Sunday. They need four hours of dry weather to get out more than 1,700 shells and that didn't happen.
"It looks like the weather will be great tomorrow," said Terre Haute Parks Department Superintendent Eddie Bird. "Sunshine, 83 degrees, so we hope everybody can make it out."
The fireworks show costs the city about $23-thousand. Music from the Terre Haute Community Band is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. with fireworks about 10 p.m. Sunday night.
The following fireworks displays are postponed until July 5.
Fairbanks Park, Terre Haute starting at 10 p.m.
Brazil, Indiana starting at 10 p.m.
Clinton, Ind.
Raccoon Lake
Clark County Fairgrounds
Mill Creek in Marshall, Ill.
Sullivan County Park and Lake
